FFWD Week #48: Corn Soup

Soup. Yum! I really need to make more soup.
This corn soup of Dorie's is delicious. I loved the garnish of bacon, corn kernels and scallions - I think that they added a lot to this dish. More bacon would have been even better! I used 1% instead of whole milk and threw in some fresh basil and sage instead of the rosemary and thyme. Have a fabulous weekend =D

FFWD Week #35: Warm Weather Vegetable Pot au Fee

I was skeptical - it was an awful lot of vegetables in one pot. And I was blown away. Blown clear out of the water! This soup was magnificently delicious! I must admit that Dorie's soups and I haven't always had the best of times together, but this one won my heart. I made half of the recipe and ate it over 3 days. And while the soup was definitely fabulous on the first day, it was also great two days later. I went without the egg, but will have to try it again soon with the egg. We've been having a gray, rainy spell so soup fit right in =)

FFWD Week #15: Paris Mushroom Soup

Wow, week fifteen already! Impressive =) I was wary of this soup - I have only recently began to semi-embrace mushrooms - but I went ahead and made it, although I did not made the seasoned mushroom salad to go with it. I don't like mushrooms THAT much! I was REALLY wary of the soup when I saw it in all it's grey glory, but it smelled good, so I tried it. And it is good. It is very good! But the colour... shiver!

FFWD Week #12: Leek & Potato Soup

Well, well, well, it is time for soup! This soup smelled *amazing* while it was cooking and it was all I could do to keep from burrying my head in the pot! I halved the recipe and am quite enjoying it - perfect for winter.

FFWD: Spicy Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Soup

Thanksgiving weekend was spent at home, with the benefits of a lovely kitchen, room to breathe and the company of my dear family. I made this week’s recipe, Spicy Vietnamese Chicken Noodle Soup, on Saturday so that I could share it with them. It was great to be able to make a whole recipe and have people to eat it with and to get more opinions! This soup was definitely different and we all enjoyed the interesting and new flavours. My sister said it tasted "like real food", which I enjoyed! I am loving this group and can’t wait for the Hachis Parmentier next week! Visit the French Friday's with Dorie site to see other members soups!
