FFWD Week #26: Scallops with Caramel-Orange Sauce

I love scallops. I used to be a very picky eater and among many other foods I would hardly touch any seafood at all. But as of late, I have come to embrace trying new foods. Fear not mothers of picky eaters - there is hope! Some of the best food I have ever eaten was an octopus and squid dish in Lima, and so from there I have learned that trying different foods is so much fun, and usually quite delicious. With the exception of avocado, yuck! This recipe of Dorie's is surprisingly quick and simple. I thought it was perfect paired with asparagus, as pictured in her book. And the asparagus was delicious with the caramel-orange sauce too! While not one of my favourites, I definitely enjoyed this recipe and it made for a delicious lunch. I loved how the scallops turned out, I thought they were just beautiful. Check out the blogs of all the other French Friday with Dorie members!!
A friend and I decorated sugar cookies for a bake sale yesterday - here are some of what we did:

Sadly, the poor little fox fell as I was leaving my apartment and broken into a million (give or take a few) pieces. Sigh!

    The scallops are beautiful, but I fell in love with the octopus. What a great shape. My girl would just fly over the moon for that one...

    I love your cookies. Funny how many of us used asparagus...I guess Dorie's idea was a good one. Your scallops look perfect.

    Thanks for all your sweet comments! I ran across a set of 50 animal cookie cutters a few weeks ago and couldn't resist! I must admit, the octopus is probably my favourite, I couldn't wait to use it!

    The scallops look great! I wish I'd served with asparagus, though, sadly, it's not in season where I live yet. Your cookies are just the cutest things I've seen.

    Your phots looks just like the Dorie badge - great job !! And your cookies are beautiful. I have never seen homemade ones decorated so beautifully. I am really tempted to bake some cookies right now :)
